I have both short-term and long-term ones. As for short-term goals I try to involve my students in learning each specific topic we have in syllabus, make them like it and be interested in, so their motivation grows as well as their grades, and then I can slowly move to my long-term goal which is to make them become fluent English speakers.
As for my teaching style, I prefer to use the Comprehensive, sometimes Direct or Audio-lingual and of course the king of all the approaches the Communicative approach.
First of all, let's talk about my favourite Communicative approach. It is the most usable because it includes everything at once: reading, speaking, writing and listening competences. It's the easiest to complement any sort of online platforms and multimedia in such a lesson to make it interactive and more fun. But, while working with very young learners, the Comprehensive approach with its TPR activities and sequencing of action and tolerance to the silent period in the combination with Direct approach that echniquesputs TPR even on higher level and lets students feel like they are a part of the culture they are studying through the language and some techniques of Audio-lingual approach that let them speak at least some pattern phrases that encourages and motivates this type of learners a lot may be more appropriate. That's why it's important to keep in mind the goals and the age of the students while considering the approaches.
At this point of my teaching career I work more with the high school students, that's why I use the Communicative approach more, so it gives me the biggest freedom of choosing the tools and express my creativity while planning the lessons
To my mind, my teaching style meets the needs of my students and motivates them to learn because they are very much excited before the lesson and always ask me even during the breaks when they see me somewhere in the hallway :' What we are going to do today, I am so excited, tell us, teacher, please, we can't wait!' So,both that and their exams' and assessments' grades, that are pretty high, prove that I move in the right direction with my learners.
During both my lesson planning and teaching I use different techniques such as scaffolding, so I pay a lot of attention to model and guided practice segments of the lesson, and check their understanding, also I try to use warm language and teacher talk, so their affective filter lowers and they are ready to comprehend and participate properly.
Moreover, I use the 80% practice and 20% instruction rule, so I let my students talk more and don't steal the initiative out of them.
As for the motivation, I try to motivate my students making my lessons existing, using the group and pair work and letting them compete with each other.
As for the activities, I use a wide range of them but I have both mine and my students' favourite warm up activity on vocabulary that helps my students to learn the new words and phrases and not to forget the previous ones, so we do it no matter what kind of objectives I have, because it activates learners' desire to study very much.
And last but not the least, the assessment. Depending on the objectives I assess my students in different ways, but most of the times it's a quiz, or an essay, or a speech, or something more creative as a video presentation.
